New Release Helps Distributors Offer Customers More

YARDLEY, PA, March 6, 2006 - Activant Solutions Inc. announces the availability of Stanpak version 8.0. This latest version of the UNIX-based enterprise software solution includes new features based on customer requests, including branch transfer changes, a customer price change letter, and many more.

"Activant works closely with customers to develop the specific features they need," says Steve McLaughlin, senior vice president and general manager of the wholesale distribution group at Activant. "Stanpak version 8 includes a host of new functionality designed to help our customers increase sales, improve customer service, and reduce costs."

New Features

One of the most requested new features included in Stanpak version 8 is a GUI interface for cash receipts, which allows for posting to multiple bank accounts. Once a General Ledger bank account is chosen on the initial screen, all subsequent payments are posted to that account until a different account is selected. In addition, when a customer number is entered, a list of that customer's checks will be displayed on-screen along with information on check amounts and balances.

The branch transfer system has been enhanced as well, making it easier to prevent updating sales figures that should not be affected by branch transfers. Previously, it was necessary to "back out" any credit transactions that were the result of branch transfers, but the process has been simplified to help reduce errors.

Other Features Available in Stanpak 8:

  • Customer Price Change Letter (BRC) - Print an 8.5" by 11" letter formatted with customer information such as name, address, and phone number to advise select customers of price changes along with the Customer Price Change Report.
  • Item Number Merge (INM)- The INM program can now be restarted if data errors cause it to fail, and the work files used in the process are not deleted until the program completes.
  • Customer Number Merge - An added option allows for either Customer Number Merge or Parent - Child (The Parent - Child option will keep a separate "ship to" under a Parent account).
  • IMS Programs - A set of programs that can be used to compare and update inventory items at different locations, the new IMS programs eliminate the need for manual comparisons of branch information.
  • Customer Check List (RCHK) - Enter a customer number to display a list of checks paid by that customer, along with check amounts and dates.
  • And many more!
